Severine Sierens
Belgian clarinetist Severine Sierens studied at the Luca School of Arts, the Royal Conservatory of Liège and the Fontys School of Fine and Performing Arts in Tilburg where she obtained master degrees for clarinet and chamber music. Her principal professor of clarinet was Eddy Vanoosthuyse.
An active freelance musician, Sierens has performed with the Brussels Philharmonic and the orchestra of the Opera-Ballet Flanders among others. She has performed with string quartets and ensembles including the ‘Ciurlionis Quartet’-Lithuania, ‘Roman Quartet’-Hungary, ‘Odeion Quartet’-South Africa , 'Zemlinsky Quartet'-Czech Republic, 'Khroma Quartet'-Belgium and with ‘Simon Bolivar Symphonic Windband’-Venezuela, ‘Orchestre de Chambre de la Garde Républicaine/Paris’-France ‘The University of Utah Windensemble’-US, ‘Free State Symphony’-South Africa, ‘Symfonisch Ensemble Querceto’-Belgium, ‘Nuove Musiche’-Belgium, ‘La Artistica Symphonic Band of Buñol’-Spain, ‘Ataneres Ensemble’-Belgium among others.
Sierens is professor of clarinet at the Art Lyceum MUDA ,the ‘GO! Kunstacademie Gent’ ,‘Parcour Oudenaarde’, ‘KA! Eeklo’ and teaches masterclasses in Europe and The United States. In 2022 she was a guest professor at the University College Ghent-KASK & Conservatory Ghent.
Severine is the administrative manager of vzw International Music Promotion (organizer of the International Clarinet Competition Ghent) and competition director of the International Clarinet Competition Ghent. She is the country chair for Belgium of the International Clarinet Association.
